There are a couple of ways to indent a matrix question, what follows is the easiest.
Time: less than 3 minutes.
Skill level: All
-
Go to the survey manager page and edit your survey with the page editor.
-
Select a row of the matrix to indent and open its toolbar.
-
Open the Question Editor for the matrix item.
-
In the question editor set the proof mode on (this forces the page not to return to the editor when we click the “Update” button).
-
We’re going to indent the right hand side of the matrix, so we add a column which will take up the space (and not leave a weird gap in the background colour).
-
If you look top right you’ll see (as expected) that the question is now too wide, so we remove the equivalent amount from another column.
-
Unset proof mode (so when we click the “Update” button the page returns to the page editor).
-
Click the “Update” button.
-
The Question Editor has forced the other members of the matrix to align to the one you double clicked.
That’s it!
