How to: Add a Survey Selector to your survey (for language selection) - Part 2

If you want to offer a choice of surveys to your responder (e.g. different language versions of the same survey) you need to add a Survey Selector question to your surveys; this will switch surveys according to your responder’s selection.

Part 1 shows you how to add the Survey Selector question to your surveys and part 2 shows you how to add options to the Survey Selector question.

Time: less than 5 minutes. Skill level: All
  1. Go to the Setup section of the site by clicking “Setup” from the very top of the page.
  2. Open the Group Surveys page.
  3. To group surveys together simply give them the same number. If your responder opens a survey in this group the Survey Selector question will list all surveys with the same group number.
  4. Click “Update” to save your changes.
  5. The Survey Groups will affect only active surveys, so if you preview any of your surveys the Survey Selector question will still be empty.
  6. If you activate one of your surveys, then that survey’s Survey Selector question will now show one entry corresponding to the activated survey. Note: you should look at the active survey, not its preview!
  7. If you activate all of your surveys, then all your surveys Survey Selector questions’ will now show all the entries in the survey group.
  8. The Survey Selector question we have lists all the languages in English, but it’s possible to override these values with the native language name, so reopen the “Survey groups” popup. If you now override the last two items, those items will be replaced.
  9. Look back at your active survey you will see the changes.

That’s it. Now when your responder accesses your survey, it will check your browser’s language version and automatically display the most appropriate language version using your list. And if your responder doesn’t like the version we’ve selected for them they can override it by selecting their own preference using the Survey Selector question themselves.
