A note on browsers: Internet Explorer 6 is by far the slowest browser in which to work, closely followed by Internet Explorer 7. Internet
Explorer 6 also has a bug where by it always downloads background images and never reuses them, making it even slower still. All recent
versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari & Opera are blistering quick in comparison and will run our editing software noticeably quicker.
Any browser will operate our editing software faster, the quicker your connection to the internet.
When using the takesense.com editor pages to manufacture a survey please wait for the entire page to load
or you may run into problems. Specifically, Internet Explorer has a tendency to crash if you click button
before a page has loaded fully, whereas Firefox, Nestscape & Opera tend to break the javascript so buttons
and links do not work. If you let the page load fully then the software should operate correctly. This
issue only affects the editing software; manufactured surveys are much simpler beasts and are therefore far
more robust.
No, however we do include a number of responses with trial accounts, so if you’re looking to do a small survey
you’re welcome to use those and it will cost you nothing - bargain!
If your survey goes to a white blank page when your responder clicks the submit button, it’s most likely
because you don’t have a thank you page. Modern internet browsers don’t allow the browser to shut itself
down, which is why you get the blank page. Either add a post survey redirect to your own website (from
the "Survey options" tab on the "Page editor") or add a thank you page.
Yes, very easily - all you need to do is to open a second browser (CTRL + N), then open a survey in each one.
Any question you copy is available to both browsers by clicking the “Template” button on the question’s
toolbar.
We offer a feature called
“One Response Only”, which has 3 modes
depending upon your requirements:
-
By unique ID: Use this mode if you want to tie one response to a unique ID, e.g. invoice number, job number, vehicle registration, etc.
-
By email: We can enforce one response per validated email address: each responder will have to verify their email to gain access to your survey.
-
By cookie: This is the least secure option, but is still affective as the vast majority of internet users do not know how to get around them.
We offer a password option, which can be set to a password of your choice, so only responders that enter the password
correctly can answer your survey.
Research shows your survey is much more likely to receive a response if you offer an incentive. If offering
an attractive incentive is not financially viable then please feel free to use our prize draw entry question
on your survey and we’ll offer the incentive on your behalf - we provide the prize money and you get better results!
See the "how to" section for a guide on how to add the Prize Draw question to your survey.
If you require a translation of the prize draw entry question
email us.
Yes. We can design the & build the whole thing for you,
just send us your requirements
and we'll get started. Order from the
Setup and design page.
Yes! takesense.com surveys are designed to run any language, see the "how to" section for a guide on how to do this; or we can do it for you.
First you need to ensure your survey is set to send responses "On Submit". If that's the case, then
this happens if you're survey is spread over more than one page (excluding the thank you page) and your responder does
not complete your survey (to the last page). The reason we can't email the results instantly is we don't know whether they've finished!
Note: we still record the partial response for you, which you can view with all your other responses at the website.
Web standards refer to web pages that are constructed in such a way as not to discriminate against anyone, in
particular those with visual disabilities.
takesense.com surveys support accessibility and web standards. In fact, if you look at the vast majority of our
competitiors (even some of the most expensive ones), you'll find we're one of only a very few who do.
Did you know many countries (including the USA and the UK) have passed legislation that make it illegal to
discriminate against disabled people by offering poorly constructed webpages? An online survey is a webpage; we'd
recommend the use of one that does not infinge these laws, whether you use ours or not. Remember some of your
respondants may need to use accessibility aids to complete your survey, they can only do that if it's built
properly.
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts used to help navigate a webpage (e.g. Alt + S to save). They are automatically
turned on when you activate your survey.
To view the access keys on your survey hold the "alt" key. Use of the access keys depends on your browser:
-
Internet Explorer: use alt + [access key]
-
Firefox 1.x: use alt + [access key]
-
Safari 3.1 +: use alt + [access key]
-
Chrome: use alt + [access key]
-
Firefox 2.x +: use shift + alt + [access key]
-
Netscape 9.x +: use shift + alt + [access key]
-
Opera 9.x: use shift + esc + [access key]
Note: It's very likely users requiring access via access keys would already know this!
If you use the built in styles and colours your surveys will look fine accross all the recent versions
of all the major browsers, i.e. FireFox, Explorer, Opera, Safari & Chrome (well over 99% of all internet
users).
If you have manually edited the underlying CSS, we advise you to check your survey accross
the major browsers. We've tried to automate the majority of known cross browser issues, but inevitably
there will be issues we haven't addressed. To be safe (as a minimum) check your survey in Internet Explorer
versions 6 & 7 and Firefox (any version). If this is not something you wish to get involved in check our
Setup and design.
IF YOU DO NOT MANUALLY EDIT THE UNDERLYING C.S.S. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CROSS CHECK ANYTHING.
Yes. We provide a web service to which your system needs to make one call at point of sale and that’s it. What this
does for you is “invite” your customer to leave feedback against their invoice number, giving you greater control
over who leaves you feedback & when. Plus you get greater traceability because the feedback is left against a specific invoice
number.
